Ephesians 4:1-2 Live A Life Worthy of the Call

Ephesians 4:1-6, As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 3:20-21 Paul's Doxology

David Leyshon was a pastor for fourteen years. He loved being a pastor, but he is no longer in the ministry. He did not step down from ministry because... of a moral failure, a bad church split, he did not chose a different vocation, he did not get burned out, he did not retire. He stepped down from being a pastor because he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was no longer able to fulfill his ministry at the church where he had been serving. I would imagine that Mr. Leyshon struggled to cope with the fact that his sickness was taking something from him that he not only loved to do, but that he had been called to do by God. A Message For These Troubled Times

Typically, I would now ask you to open your bibles to Ephesians 3:20-21 so that we could continue our study in the book of Ephesians. We very rarely deviate from our study of a book, but today I have decided to do so. Because of the things that have happened in this season of life it seems best to take a Sunday to use other texts of scripture to encourage our hearts and to direct our steps as we go trough the things that we are now experiencing. My goal is not to give vent to my own opinions; but, rather, to allow scripture to help us during this chaotic time. This sermon will follow a simple outline.
