Why should I become a member?

You obviously do not have to become a member of a church in order to be a Christian.  God never explicitly commands you to become a member.  He does, however, want you to do your part in the body of Christ and to commit yourself to faithful, soul-shaping relationships with other believers.  Membership shows your commitment to God’s church, displays your desire to submit to God-given spiritual authorities, and provides accountability for your spiritual growth.  Besides, membership also allows you to participate in the formal decisions of the church.  Check out Pastor Israel’s message on this topic entitled ‘Are You a Member?’ (left-click link to play audio stream; to download, right-click the link and select ‘Save Target As…’).  For an excellent, detailed biblical description of membership, click here.

How do I become a member?

According to the Community Church Constitution, members may be received into the church either by baptism, by letter of transfer from a church with similar beliefs and practices, or by testimony of personal faith in Christ and baptism according to New Testament practice.   All members must attend ‘Membership 101′ - a two-hour class scheduled quarterly or as needed.
